Producer Simon Holloway joined fellow judges Don McGlashan and Juice TV's PD Stuart Seagar to choose the winner of the inaugural University of Auckland Songwriter of the Year  at Auckland's Maidment Theatre on September 29. Competition was of an exceptional standard and showed the depth of talent being developed in the University's Popular Music program, for which Beaver arranger Godfrey de Grut lectures. Eventually under guidance of panel chair Professor Robert Constable, Head of the School of Music, the judges awarded first prize to second year student Jocee Tuck. Jocee will record a single with Beaver Studios as part of her prize which included gear from Music Works and television coverage by Juice TV.
